Tips for Choosing Restaurant Uniforms

October 31st 2010

The right uniform is a great way to keep your staff looking great and to create a recognizable brand. With the customization options available here at Sharper Uniforms, you can make all that happen. We have some tips to help you choose the right uniforms for your restaurant employees.

Would you dress a barrista in a lime green shirt?

-Comfort is key. When it comes to restaurant uniforms, you want to make sure that your employees are comfortable. Ideally, when an employee enjoys what he or she is wearing, they’ll perform their job better.

-The right uniform can help boost morale. When you’re getting new restaurant uniforms, ask for your employees’ input. You probably won’t get everyone to agree, but this is a great way to get all of your employees involved in the process.

-All of the uniforms here at Sharper Uniforms have fabric that is easy to care for. This makes them ideal for the kind of work your staff will be doing. They’ll look clean and crisp no matter what they day holds for them.

-Think about your theme. You want to create something unique, but don’t go overboard. The theme and décor of your restaurant itself plays a role in what you’re doing. You could go with bright colors if that’s appropriate for your business; but there are also plenty of neutral colors to choose from. Your restaurant uniforms should go with the theme of the business, but they shouldn’t go overboard. Try to walk that line between something that matches the décor and what your employees prefer to wear. For example, if your restaurant has a lime green interior, try dressing your staff in a complimentary color instead of matching too much.

What is a Casual Dress Code?

October 15th 2010

For employees that work behind the scenes, a uniform might not be necessary. But what exactly is a casual dress code in a business office? It’s important for employees to know that casual, relaxed, or informal clothing should be comfortable without being distracting in any way. When defining a casual dress code, consider the clients that your company is serving, also.

It should go without saying that some casual attire is not appropriate for office use. For example, any clothing that might be worn to the beach, to the gym, or while doing yard work would more than likely be the type of clothing that shouldn’t be worn to work. Your wardrobe reflects your professionalism.

What if you work in a causal office and you have to make a client visit? Some might argue that you should research that particular client and see what their acceptable dress code is and then match your attire accordingly. After all, the term “casual” might mean one thing in your workplace, and something entirely different in another.

It should be noted that no dress code can cover everything—there are always loopholes or exceptions. Try to find a balance between dressy and casual clothing. Consider wearing one of the Ladies Blouses from Sharper Uniforms with a clean pair of jeans.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 8th 2010

Breast cancer affects nearly 200,000 women a year. It kills more women than almost every other form of cancer. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, why not let your staff show their support by wearing pink? Pink is the color of many breast cancer support organizations, and it has become a symbol for the movement. Your staff can still look professional and put-together in some of the pink options here at Sharper Uniforms.

Ladies V Neck Blouse

Our Ladies Ultimate V-Neck Tailored Stretch Blouse comes in six colors— and pink is one of them! The ladies on your staff can show their support and look absolutely wonderful all at the same time. For pink in a pinch, try getting some of our Waitstaff Aprons in a pink hue. The guys on your staff can even wear these! Many of our Women’s Outerwear options come in pink, as well. That’s certainly something to think about as the weather gets cooler.

It’s time to show the brave breast cancer survivors that you support them. If NFL teams can add a little bit of pink to their uniforms this month, why can’t you?
