Caring for Hospitality Outerwear

December 30th 2010

Winter is upon us, and that means that your staff is going to have to take care of their hospitality outerwear. We have a few tips for keeping different outdoor garments clean this season.

Coats
The frequency with which you clean your coat doing the winter depends on your daily environment. If your business is in a busy city area, consider cleaning your coat once a month. Dust and dirt particles can actually get into the weave of a coat and will wear the fabric down. Otherwise, you can clean your coat twice a season. Clean it once at the beginning of winter and once at the end. All of the great hospitality coats here at Sharper Uniforms can withstand many different environments.

Scarves
Many people don’t consider cleaning winter scarves more than once a season, but you really should. After all, your staff is the face of your business. Scarves are continually exposed to perspiration and makeup. Anything close to the body needs to be cleaned more often.

Gloves and Mittens
Leather gloves are more durable than fabric gloves, and they can usually be wiped with a damp cloth when they’re dirty. You should bring your leather gloves to a dry cleaner for a cleaning once a season.

With these tips, your outerwear will stay nice and clean all season long!

New Years Eve Party Ideas

December 26th 2010

If you are catering a New Years Eve party or planning a nice celebration for your employees, we have a few New Years Eve party ideas for you. Here at Sharper Uniforms we want you and your staff to look and feel their best in our uniform shirts and trousers—but we recognize that there’s also a time to let loose and party!

You could have a white New Years Eve ball. Make sure all of your party streamers, hats, confetti, and even finger foods have a white theme. Place little snowmen around as decorations. There are so many options when you use snow as the theme for your New Years Eve party.

Choose an era of time to feature—you could go with the 1920s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, or 1980s. The ‘20s were the era of the flapper, the ‘50s offered poodle skirts, the ‘60s were fun for the hippies, the ‘70s had disco, and the ‘80s had huge hair! Celebrate another year while you ring in a new one.

With the tuxedo shirts and jackets here at Sharper Uniforms, it’s quite easy for men to dress up for a formal New Years party. Women would have to get gussied up in some evening gowns.

Most of all… have a great New Year!

Centerpieces for a Winter Banquet

December 10th 2010

With the holiday season upon us, it’s time to start thinking about what you can do to create memorable banquets for your patrons. When you get uniforms from Sharper Uniforms, you know that your banquet staff will look their best. But what about the rest of the banquet hall? Whether you’re offering ideas to a client or making centerpieces for your own banquet, we have a few ideas to help you get through this holiday season.

Ornaments make great holiday centerpieces

Holiday Decorations
Holiday decorations make beautiful centerpieces for the Christmas season. If you’re creating a winter reception centerpiece for a wedding, you can use Christmas ornaments that belong to the bride and groom. You could also place a single Christmas ornament on top of a pedestal. You can have several pedestals of varying heights to add some visual interest. Look for battery operated Christmas lights to add some fun ambiance.

Winter Foliage
Flowers are usually the standby for centerpieces—but what do you do in the wintertime? You can replicate the look of bare trees by using tall, curly willow branches as a centerpiece. The height will add a great dramatic effect. Use evergreen boughs at the base to add color and some fragrance.

These are just some of the suggestions you can use for great holiday centerpieces. Make sure the room looks as good as your banquet staff!
