Mother Nature’s Favorite: ECO Green Restaurant Uniforms

November 4th 2011

Everyone is environmentally conscious these days—and with good reason! We’ve only got this one planet, so we really need to take care of it. That eco-friendly mindset shouldn’t stop when you go to work. That’s why Sharper Uniforms has a line of ECO Green restaurant uniforms. These uniform shirts and chef uniforms are the perfect blend of style and comfort—and they’re so good for the environment. What makes them so eco-friendly? The ECO Green restaurant uniforms are made with 100% recycled polyester. And to top it all off, they cab easily be recycled again when you’re through with them. That’s something the world can smile about!

Here are some other eco-friendly tips for your business:
• When it’s not being used, turn off the equipment. This can actually reduce energy use by 25%.
• Encourage your employees to communicate via email. This way you won’t be wasting any trees.
• Print double-sided documents whenever possible.
• Be sure not to leave taps dripping. Did you know that if you waste one drop of water per second, that adds up to 10,000 liters per year? That’s 5,000 soda bottles!
• Find a paper supplier that uses as much recycled content as possible.
• Keep an eye out for green products like the ECO Green restaurant uniforms from Sharper Uniforms.

Make Mother Nature happy with your eco-friendly choices!

The History of Averill’s Sharper Uniforms

September 29th 2011

In 2003, while living in Weston, Massachusetts, Averill Bromfield stumbled upon his (now very successful) online uniform business. You may be asking yourself how he stumbled into this line of online retail. Well, Averill wasn’t always providing businesses and their staff with sharp looking uniforms. Around the time dot-com businesses started to become popular, he was providing restaurants with sharp knives, through his company The Sharper Knife, Inc.

A real American success story!

The world of knives wasn’t growing fast enough for this dapper dressing man, and he had a family to support. Luckily, he came across an executive chef who asked him to source red baggy chef pants. After sourcing pants from a few uniform companies Averill began selling a complete line of uniforms for chefs, cooks and other kitchen staff. He later added his line of kitchen apparel to the Sharper Knife website.

Later, after designing server bib aprons with a company’s logo displayed on the front, business began to take a turn for the better and soon thereafter, Averill changed the name of his dot-com company from The Sharper Knife, Inc., to Averill’s Sharper Uniforms. As business grew for his once small company, he hired employees to help him take care of customers.

Averill’s Sharper Uniforms now carries a large assortment of uniforms for various businesses and companies including hospitality uniforms, wait staff uniforms, security uniforms, housekeeping uniforms and more!

Sharper Uniforms at New England Food Show

March 28th 2011

We were at the New England Food Show from March 20-22nd, and we had a wonderful time! The show was full of people, products, and ideas to help keep any restaurant fresh and new. There were hundreds of new products on display across the expo, and it was extremely informative and entertaining for all involved. Attendees learned how to excite their loyal customers, attract new ones, and add some new “flavor” to their businesses. We were proud to be among the vendors at this wonderful show.

Intern Alex from Babson College

So what were attendees of the New England Food Show interested in from Sharper Uniforms? Hot items this time around included:

The ladies fitted ¾ sleeve blouses and our aprons. The aprons were a huge hit because they have so many things that restaurant owners are looking for. There are quite a few aprons that are made right here in the USA. There are over 70 styles, 20 colors, and they’re soil and wrinkle resistant. When you’re running a restaurant, you want to make sure everyone looks neat and clean all the time. Attendees at the New England Food Show thought our aprons really did the trick!

We met so many great people that are opening new restaurants and looking for uniforms. Events like the New England Food Show are wonderful because they help form business and personal connections that will hopefully last for years to come.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 8th 2010

Breast cancer affects nearly 200,000 women a year. It kills more women than almost every other form of cancer. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, why not let your staff show their support by wearing pink? Pink is the color of many breast cancer support organizations, and it has become a symbol for the movement. Your staff can still look professional and put-together in some of the pink options here at Sharper Uniforms.

Ladies V Neck Blouse

Our Ladies Ultimate V-Neck Tailored Stretch Blouse comes in six colors— and pink is one of them! The ladies on your staff can show their support and look absolutely wonderful all at the same time. For pink in a pinch, try getting some of our Waitstaff Aprons in a pink hue. The guys on your staff can even wear these! Many of our Women’s Outerwear options come in pink, as well. That’s certainly something to think about as the weather gets cooler.

It’s time to show the brave breast cancer survivors that you support them. If NFL teams can add a little bit of pink to their uniforms this month, why can’t you?
