July 28th 2010

We have things that can be a staple in just about anybody’s wardrobe— from outdoor laborers to business executives. Our Roll-Up Long Sleeve Blouse makes an excellent addition to any woman’s wardrobe. Perfect for offices where business attire is appropriate, you’ll be glad you have a blouse that’s as comfortable as this one.

What’s so great about this blouse? Well, it’s got a beautifully feminine open neckline, and it’s made of soft combed cotton oxford. Our favorite part about the garment, though, is the fact that it can be worn either long or short sleeved. The sleeves have button closures that allow you to roll them up and still look chic and put-together. It’s perfect for the office— especially as the temperature fluctuates. If it’s a warm day outside, you can be sure that the air conditioning will be on in the building. Keep the sleeves rolled down when you’re indoors so you can stay warm. When you leave for the day, roll them up! It’s such a versatile garment.

Check out the other shirts and blouses at Sharper Uniforms. You’ll find something to fit your work-style and your lifestyle.

Stay Cool: Moisture Management Polos

June 28th 2010

moisture management polo sharperuniforms.com
We’ve been talking a lot about summertime lately. And with good reason! Around here, it’s going to be about 90 degrees this weekend. It’s got us all thinking about how to keep ourselves cool. Lucky for a lot of us, we can just jump in the pool to get some relief on hot days. But what about your staff? They can’t just stop doing their job. The next best thing is a Moisture Management Polo.

We’ve talked about these before, but they’re totally worth mentioning again. (Because, really, were you thinking about hot weather back in February?) Like we said then, these moisture management polos are on the cutting edge of clothing technology. And now that the weather is hot enough, you’ll really appreciate the science behind these things. They’re treated with the AP-360+ Fabric Shield. That means they actually block bacteria from causing odors in the garment. Your staff will probably be working up a sweat in the months to come, but these shirts will keep any of your customers from noticing that.

The technology behind the moisture management polos still blows us away. They literally act as a natural deodorant. (That doesn’t mean your staff can stop wearing their regular deodorant, though!) The fabric shield is actually made from crustacean shells, so it’s a nice green resource that isn’t going to hurt the environment.

A cool staff is a happy staff— and the moisture management polo shirts literally keep moisture off the skin. And that keeps everyone way cool.

June 10th 2010

microfiber shorts
As summer is heading into full swing, the weather is really starting to heat up. It’s important to make sure that your staff still looks polished and professional as the mercury rises. Fortunately for the ladies, they have some options out there that allow them to show a little bit of leg in the summertime. (Don’t worry, we’re not telling you to wear Daisy Dukes!)

Flat Front Short

These comfortable microfiber shorts are ideal for women to wear to work in the summer months. They’ve got all the features of our classic pants, but they show a perfectly modest amount of leg. You don’t have to worry about your female staff complaining about being too warm. These breezy shorts are equipped with Moisture Wicking technology that draws moisture away from the skin. Everyone will be cool, dry, and comfortable in these stylish shorts.

Capri Pants
If your business requires your female staff to look a little bit more formal, then you’re in luck. Any of our pants can be tailored into a Capri pant! Just choose the pants that you’d like and select the “Capri Style” inseam. A Capri length is very flattering on women. They’re comfortable, and they add just enough summer flair to any uniform.

When you’re putting in a long day at work, you want to make sure you stay looking your best from the moment you punch in to the moment you punch out. With some boxy men’s-style work shirts, you can end up looking wrinkled and sloppy before lunchtime. But when you’re wearing one of these blouses, you can rest assured that your shirt will stay neat all day. What makes it so special? This blouse has back darts that give you a sleek, polished look. The fabric stretches, so it moves with you as you go about your day. We think the best part, though, is the fact that it’s guaranteed to stay tucked in. You don’t have to worry about it anymore!

You can shirts that are treated to prevent wrinkles, wick away moisture, and more. These kind of qualities are especially important when it comes to your staff’s uniforms.

We’re going to be adding some new polo shirts to our line up soon that will take fabric technology to the next level! First, we have a new dry-mesh high performance polo that wicks moisture away to keep you dry like nothing we’ve ever seen. It’s also fade, wrinkle and shrink resistant.

Next, we have a new plaited high performance polo. What exactly does “plaited” mean? This is a dual bond performance of cotton and polyester. First, the cotton creates a soft and comfortable feel against the body. Second, the polyester outer layer wicks moisture away from the cotton and the wearer. The polyester outer layer also retains it’s color better which assures a more uniform shade for all of your employees, even after multiple washings. It also has a slight sheen and a richer appearance than the cotton.

If you want to learn more about these great new polos, drop us a line!

Choosing Uniforms For Banquet Staffers

March 22nd 2010

yhst-5698391348794_2093_2971407

Your banquet staff are there to serve your guests at some of the most memorable and important events of their lives, like weddings, dances and other formal events. It’s important that they dress their best and that their attire reflects the importance of the events they are working at. As a result, they’re usually the very best dressed people at your hotel.

Attire can vary with the event and location, but in general you want your staff to be dressed in their very best, which is usually a tuxedo. The traditional black tie tuxedo is a classic and elegant look that can work for both the men and women on your wait staff team.

Our classic men’s wing tip tuxedo shirt looks great with a bow tie and matches perfectly with our ladies wing collar tuxedo shirt. With or without a jacket, these shirts take your look to the next level. Pair them with some comfortable work tuxedo pants and a bow tie and your guests will be impressed not only with your staff’s friendly and helpful demeanor, but with their top notch appearance as well.

What Women Want

February 26th 2010

5040_Pink

No, this post isn’t a look into the most closely guarded secret in the universe! It’s a look into the type of shirts that women working in the hospitality industry prefer! Not all shirts are made equal and there are certain styles that are more flattering for the ladies.

Many women prefer a more fitted blouse/button down shirt rather than the boxier standard shirt that men wear, which can look like a sack of potatoes on a woman. Many companies who looked for uniforms for their employees used to stick with the simple polo, but more people are moving toward the button down shirt. As a result, women have become more particular about style on the job and feel more feminine with a v-neck blouse such as our stretch fitted blouse, or a classic open neck blouse. Women have very specific wants/needs when it comes to a blouse, there has been an increase in the trend of more of a fitted look for women.

If you’re thinking about updating your uniforms, why not talk to the women you’ll be dressing to see what they prefer. It’s not always one style fits on all the job, and when your female staff are comfortable with their uniforms, you can count on happier, more productive staff!

Keeping Your Uniforms Up To Date!

January 13th 2010

Did you know that in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, their uniforms are being completely redesigned? The last major revision of the Boy Scouts uniform was in the early 1980’s, when Oscar de la Renta was commissioned to design the uniform that’s been in use for almost 30 years. 30 years! That’s a long time to go without a refresher!

Even if you take the time and care to keep your uniforms in tip top shape, eventually your staff’s look could use an update. If you haven’t changed your uniform style in more than a few years, why not let 2010 be the year that you shake things up? With constant advances in fabric technology and durability, an investment in new uniforms will pay off for you in the long run! Even switching up small things, like adding new aprons or new, more comfortable and fashionable shirts, can freshen up the look of your entire staff!

Prepping Your Staff For Winter Weather

December 4th 2009

The cold weather has officially arrived in most of the country. People are bundling up as they head out to work and school, and your staff should be no different. Inside it’s warm and toasty, but if you’re running a country club, casino, or any other company that sends their employees outside, you need to prep them for the chill!

Sweaters – If it gets chilly inside or back in the kitchen, adding a sweater to your uniforms is an easy way to keep your staff happy and warm. They’re a great choice when no one is spending much time outside but might encounter drafts from the door at the front desk.

Jackets – You might not need heavy duty winter wear in warmer climates, but you should keep some jackets on hand for chilly evenings. A men’s blazer or suit jacket is a good way to keep warm, and it also dresses up your staff for formal events.

Outerwear – Your staff needs to be prepared to do their job even on the coldest days of the year. Now is the time to invest in some high quality men’s outerwear and women’s outerwear. Look for fleeces, rain jackets, and other heavy duty coats that can withstand anything. Warm staff members are happy and will continue to provide the top notch service you expect!
